The essential characteristics of the enclosure were that it had to be brightly coloured and it also needed to be
low cost.
The colour selection was made to match the company's corporate identity and the bright orange not only makes it recognisable
compared with competitive products but it also provides an easy form of identification for service personnel when visiting
machines at remote locations.
Because the viTel units are sited within vending machines, there was no need for a fancy enclosure and there were no
specific environmental factors involved. IP ratings were definitely not a factor in this design so the company sought the
most cost-effective solution for the volumes required.
customDesignTechnologies was able to deliver an enclosure in the right colour at the right price.
The viTel unit is used to provide a wireless communications interface between vending machines and a remote host.
The viTel collects information on machine usage, stock levels and so on, generating reports on machine activity.
At predetermined times, the viTel submits a complete report to the remote host. The viTel can also be configured to call-in
to the remote host if any of its sensor inputs have been configured as alarms.
